Steady scrolling my phone,
Filling up my soul and my dome
With some so-so posts all alone,
While I post up at home —
Flippin with my thumb while I’m stoned;
Kinda miss my Samsung flip with its tone.

Tryin to get the angle as I lay awake,
On a rectangle underpaid labor made;
Toss away my day like a paper plate;
I’d kinda rather use it as a paperweight.

Okay, okay — I use it for my art — but shit, it’s subtle
How it gets into your heart and turns your head into a puddle.
— Pretty soon I bet we’ll all get carpal tunnel.
I kinda wanna bury it and throw away the shovel.

I know you may be needin’ it make your own bread,
But it may be over kneaded like a weak loaf of bread —
I’m weak, I loaf in bed, I’m deep over my head
In tweets and posts —
Between all these feeds,
I’m overfed.

Scroll?
I’d rather look at a scroll —
I’d rather re-examine my societal role —
I’d rather memorize where I’ma drive when I roll —
I rather not desensitize my mind and my soul.

Tired of ads, misleading news bots,
Emojis replacing emotional nuance,
Waking and reaching before I think two thoughts
For the text—message-Instagram-tik-tok YouTube box.

— It’s not that it’s morally wrong,
It’s just nice to have balance,
Like a chorus in a song.
…This isn’t my song,
It’s some words that I wrote —
Ironically enough on Apple Notes.

My phone —
Filling up my soul and my dome
With some so-so posts all alone
While I post up at home.
…As soon as I post this, I’m off it —
Oh wait, let me just see see who likes it and comments.

I’m not trying to hate though,
The phone can be helpful —
I’m not trying to be that judgmental millenial.
I’m just saying sometimes I miss when my cell
Was just a cell. You as well? Then let’s do something else.
