Don’t know what is but it shall come, It shall come, It shall come, It’ll come — get a hundred million clicks upon a buncha my vids (Have you seen that? yes): Build me up a channel monetize that sheet, Be a household name like Shredded Wheat, How sweet — see, it shall come, it’ll be what it is. Don’t know what it is but it shall come, It shall come, it shall come, It’ll come — a honey baby in a partnership of art and love and bliss (That’s right, swipe right): Easy on the eyes and often happy in the mind, Smart and polyamorous and round in the behind, That’s fine — right, it shall come, it’ll be what it is. Don’t know what it is but it shall come, It shall come, it shall come, It’ll come — little crib out in the country with a funny little kid (Just one, that’s plenty): Wood-burnin stove and some arable land, Internet connection and solar power van, Got damn, man — it shall come, it’ll be what it is. Don’t know what it is but it shall come, It shall come, it shall come, It’ll come — ecologic equilibrium with everything that lives (Elephants and water bears): Big green cities built with permaculture farms, Huddled like lilies where the watersheds are, Going’ hard, yarr! — it shall come, it’ll be what it is. Don’t know what it is but shall come, It shall come, it shall come, It’ll come — lovin’ what it just is, in love n’ justice (Whatever that looks like): Gettin past the past without without forgetting its injustice, Funky little paradox of differences and Oneness, What’s this, yis! — it shall come, it’ll be what it is. Don’t know what it is but shall come, It shall come, it shall come, It’ll come — universal recognition of the Self in all that is (Like a mirror in a mirror): Spirit loving matter, it was in it all along, Matter loving Spirit, as they pack another bong, Ding dong, long! — it shall come, it’ll be what it is. It’ll be what it is — It’ll come and when it comes it’ll be somethin’, It’ll be what it is.

[Refrain:] Just another couple hundred thousand years of time To try to find the kindness at the end of humankind — You can get mine, I can get thine, Then we can leave it behind — Vacant as an empty chest, possessionless and fine. I put on something nice, Hit my one hitter twice, Hit the goddess mother up for her love and advice, under lights — She said, Nathan Dufour, Your make take your true form In the oneness abundant that shakes and divides. Take your sides. I said, I think I got it, Kicked a rock And then I thought of How the rock might not like, want, to like, be kicked, ‘Cause that is not love …I’ve got quite philosophical demons. I’m shy. I’m just here for anthropological reasons. She said, That’s why they all say they come to the strip club, Isn’t it? it’s tough — you win or you get cuffed; Some get to get stuff, some shiver and spit blood. — Not actuate the worst of it with platitudes: At least I’ve got the verse and I’m not half bad at it too. Now to get my mom and dad to vote left and have new Perspective, then to reinspect my own after I’ve had a few, Walking home on the avenue. I’m not mad at you; how could I be? Both of us: unobligated, truly free. Let’s go ahead and open it up for questions. Break out the breath mints. Let me gauge your impressions: Depressed in the pressed pins That etch in the next fringe Of essence’s threads’ cinch — Dreamt, but never get pinched. Goaded by fingers that no one can see, We go woven in time like a line in a tree, In the rings of its birth, as it clings to the dirt, The things of the earth and the sky and the sea. — I guess that’s everyone: Yes, yet we’re never done At best so intelligent some think we’re hella dumb. Hello, hon. [Refrain:] Nothing like a couple hundred thousand years of time To try to find the kindness at the end of humankind — You can get mine, I can get thine, Depending on each of our signs — I think I recognize ya from the primogenic slime. We out here hanging like moss to a tree, Changing with occasions as they constitute me — A lot of molecules: me — a lot a lot of ‘em: we — We oughta consciously collectivize autonomously. Bees. Be awesome: Yes get that manna! Don’t hesitate, say Yes, great; not Man, uhhh… Have stamina, Have half a banana, Be handsome, And have both of feminine and man love. Damn, buh. …What? …So anyway one summer… Dot dot dot dot dot dot dot — not one word. Sure: do more than what you’re made for. That’s just how it be, dude. We should be paid more. — Have I covered it all, or do you need me to say more? Till I cover the earth like Sherwin Williams the paint store. Nate’s score is way more, It’s not just starting to take form — The wave’s warm, It ain’t break yet, The great glory You came for Is here. The wav form is hot the daw — It’s like jogging I’m not even sweating, my brah — Haha. When I’m running all these programs no prob — Like it’s not even work, Like I ain’t got a job. Yes but I did — with a big advance: Split it like mixin’ it when it’s panned. Spit it and kick it like Riverdance Right where I’m sittin’ like shit in pants. Ants wouldn’t outnumber the writtens I’ve written to answer the sum of my visions. Grace invaded the session; I made confession after: Absence at its Essence that’s addressed and has no answer, She gathered all of my atoms in her bright embrace — the Canceler — Rappers were getting canceled like Battle Star Galactica. Rapped this after Latin practice, axibus peractus Mentis — Mention this — the fact is there’s no plan, The path the pen hits. That’s genetics — what’s genetics? evidence the past invents us: Only God can burn us, good returns on her investments. [Refrain:] Just another couple hundred thousand years of time To try to find the kindness at the end of humankind — You can get mine, I can get thine, Then we can leave it behind — Vacant as an empty chest, possessionless and fine.

Quick with the lines like I get it to go, Saying a flow, Nathan D.O. Angels inside us wherever we go ‘Cause the Kingdom of Heaven’s the size of a toe. — Oh, it is? better watch your step. Not watching my watch, I think time’s an illusion, And if not an illusion, a measure of movement With presence of mind in the presence of music. Let that watch hand come full circle: I’m a square: I’m a Rubix. My songs ain’t seen the air like the hairs on a pubis. I know everything not fair, let’s demand more inclusion. I got no office chair — so I stand by what I’m doin’. Say something provocative: I believe God exists, I think it’s obvious. — Not what the topic is. Starting my art again: Make you take part in it, Take it to market then Take out the marketin’. I make my report, then I find I’m the the dark again. Life isn’t short, it’s just hard to find parking in it. In my Lane like Clark in Lois — Get consent, Wait for notice — It’s isn’t hard, It isn’t hopeless, Just a blowhard For a POTUS — No offense — Yes offense! — I’m not on the fence, I’m taking a side: But that doesn’t mean I have hate in my heart, It just means I have sight in my eyes But really the theme of the poem is I’ll make my art when I want to be droppin’ fly Content and songs and not because someone implied that I must be consistent with Spotify. Not on my watch — The watch I don’t have. Don’t have followers either, But that too will change, As all things will change And dissolve in the ether. Alexa play something to soften my rage. Miss me with the blah Monsanto mono crop: A lot that y’all have bought and that was hot was obvi not a bop. I’m on the Audubon, Y’all in the auto shop — Calm as a sauna I’m gone on and on as on a clause when a comma’s dropped. Comets hot, Songs that got Comments on All that’s wrought, Scrawl ‘em watchin’ fallin’ pollen Then dissolvin’ frost from an otter pop. — That’s word play. Now it’s your play. — Who am I even talkin to who? Not ‘who’, but ‘whom’ — use ‘whom’ when it follows ‘to’. — Ooh! It’s time for the shear truth my sheeple: It’s a grind, it’s a grind, Like your teeth when you don’t sleep well. A lot’ll try to proselytize with no point but a steeple: Silence. Let the voice divine come fill the void like a key hole. Either move to impeach, Or move to a beach Far beyond the view Of what a human can reach. Speech! Truth talk: Prufrock: should a dude eat a peach? I’m disproving truisms: I do and I teach. Used to hold books and get lost the pages; Now I scroll Facebook and call people racist. J.K. … Rowling … Shouting insistently Empty sound and groundless fantasies of gender’s simplicity. My plan is the hip-hop, Even if it isn’t on the Gram or the Tik Tok. — Did it stop? Planet’s on a pit stop: Anybody notice that we’re all one and it’s hot? — I didn’t catch it. Well that’s why I recorded it, So stop your kvetching. Go forward in Kevin — That’s the van. Get a fill up. Switch to solar, Live the soul love, Spit a four — Nate and Hila.

Every sunbeam casts a shadow; Every dream breaks a vow; Every speech’s sweet generalization Meant something then, and nothing now. In the whisper of the breeze here, There’s a gale there wherever else; As I gaze into the mirror That conceals Someone else. [Refrain:] Every picture is a selfie, Every gaze a mirror’s glare; Be the phrase’s meaning empty, Yet it’s laden with a prayer. Any question they can ask you, Whether masked or whether bare, Is an echo of the answer, Ever known, forever there. Every victory casts the conquered In the comfort of defeat; And the love songs of the conquerer Never throng the peoples street. In the vague hum of a worn tune Is the form of something new; As I’m yearning to be born again Not as me But as you. [Refrain:] Every picture is a selfie, Every puncture is a piece Of the absence that it lets be And the passage that it frees; Be the pasture full of plenty Or as barren as the streets — With the one left by the many, It shall be enough at least. Every sweet dream is a secret; Every peace a jealous friend; Any secret’s only secret If you’ll speak it once again. In the cool shade of the treeline Is the crime missed by the sun; I’m abiding in its absence Till it blinds us Every one. [Refrain:] Every picture is a selfie, Every gaze a mirror’s glare; Be the phrase’s meaning empty, Yet it’s laden with a prayer. Any question they can ask you, Whether masked or whether bare, Is an echo of the answer, Ever known, forever there.

[The Other:] State your name, race and gender. [Nathan:] Nathan D; male i guess; fire bender. [The Other:] Waiting for the data set to render. [Nathan:] Just another average moment in the passage of forever [The Other:] Age and occupation? [Nathan:] Dad loved Reagan: Traded my storm trooper blaster for a working man’s ray-gun. Working on a path to be the rap Donald Fagan. Not to be woke, so much as awakened. [The Other:] Place of birth? [Nathan:] Washington. The trees and ferns my fortress. Used to smoke some weed, now I breath the burning forests. Sieves are not as porous as the gaps in my enforcements: Made some raps without a chorus, it’s been hard to get endorsements. Turns out it all ain’t Smash Bros and jet skis, It’s dog eat dog — better recheck the recipe. Keep it all at bay like Chesapeake, felt the chest beat — While hanging like a chest piece they’ll take away your chest piece. [The Other:] Next please — affiliated party? [Nathan:] Smash the patriarchy. Daddy issues. Kinda artsy. [The Other:] Please present your pass for parking. [Nathan:] Wrong time, right place: I came for the class war but all they had was race. — Sing the blues till I’m blue in the face. Proof in case: teaching school but a student of grace I didn’t get to choose my eyes are blue like violets that bloom in a vase — But I have inclusive taste. [Refrain:] And whom am I hoping to face, When I’m holding up my poems making motion in place — Will they hold me as another appropriates, Or in open embrace, each holding our space? And who are you? I don’t know — But I want you at my show. Right — hold up — Light showed up, Time unfolded — Better get your grind and soul aligned. Wrote a Giant tome of Rhyme to show the light inside your mind — No duh. Idion, idion, idion — Y’all don’t even know what kinda thing we on. Only God can stop me when I sing the song — Y’all know how it be, we gotta be beyond. [The Other:] Early education? [Nathan:] Spirit assemblies: Be kind to your friends, sportsmanlike to your enemies. Play sports, make forts, go for the classics — Don’t deconstruct concepts of Western advancement. I made it happen, I studied Latin, I came to love the mask I fashioned — Now to recall where my face starts and the mask ends. Mass bends essence in a lattice of accidents, Passions that flash from my atom’s chance actions. — If that makes no damn sense, read my dissertation: That’s why I wrote it: Oglesby, Nathan Dufour: truth force: may my form hold my soul in: I’m turning 33 — dude you’re so olden! — Never heard of me before? yo, for fudge sake: I’m not a late bloomer — y’all slow on the uptake. Your boy wicked smart with the art though he’s dumb baked, Gazing on the void like a hole in a bundt cake. Too much my heart, it’s enveloping me, So I figured I’d disclose it on some regular beats: A product of my elements and that which I’ve lived in: God’s infinite body, and capitalism. — Shit, where’s my dongle? Doggone it, it’s gone, yo. I still got my dong tho, it’s on like the gong show. God let my songs grow as long as a swan’s throat: I wanna draw audiences, all in one broad stroke. [Refrain:] And whom am I hoping to see, When the ones that I’m composing for are open to me, Knowing every touch I feel is never complete, And every distance relatively is as close as can be? And who are you, I don’t know — But I want to see you glow.

Dufour in the quarantine, Forgin’ new forms of being; Left the former me, Formed the Nathan Dufour to be. Borne and freed, Leaping forth and accordingly Courting the laurel leaf, Recording this cordially. Never did get Jordans, had the thickest thesaruses; Kid this isn’t in the course, this is form in the formlessness: It reports what my aura is, In its oral-spit ornaments, Its as precious as ore is, Or as poor as quart of piss. This literary’s corpus’ exorbitant corpulence Is proportionate To what you’ve been informed its importance is — Its unfortunate, But I’m not here to forfeit the tournament: Floor it till the course is over, from the core to the orbit’s lip. — Nathan Dufour, is it? — Nathan Dufour for short, Nathan for shorter, Nate for even for more short. Ordered it free-form, For a fee or for sport; It’s wavy, B: board shorts At seashore resorts. Speak for it, See more, Leap forward, Seek glory — Elite form. A freak store of Deep, warm Meaning for ‘em: Seems important But really be sorta bored and needing to ford Between moments of being in form And more of being in fear of the storm And feeling orphaned, Mournin’. …More then? More hymns than a Mormon, Poorer than Poor Min. If you’re pourin’, then pour it in. Your win, if yours is in purer form than Dufour’s — Every new four is a sure tour de force. But let’s be straightforward: is it all empty glow, As we spin our wheels? — rims on a car that won’t go, Bars like the color-bars that interrupt a show, Lines like lines in a queue that moves slow. — Is it all for the views like the scenic way, baby? Till I got more subs than the United States Navy? Till I got more plays than Shakespeare, Belechick? Hella shit. Hey followers, let’s head over the precipice. Yes it is, and isn’t. Opposites are intimates: I’m just trying to quote the author of the infinite infinites. It’s all a hall of mirrors — heavens or hells, As they stare at one another staring into themselves. If it ends, then oh well — but its not over though: I can still do four like a clover, bro. — I don’t know just what this parting speech was formed to show: Except some bars to go. — Nathan Dufour O.
